Lesson Objectives:


Objective: In today’s class we will talk about our past experiences by talking to a counselor. 


By the end of this class, we will be able to

  1. Describe a vacation.

  2. Compare the Past and Present.

  3. Give biographical information.

Task 1: Let’s remember! 

  1. Let’s look at this picture and complete it: 



  1. Let’s discuss our plans for the future! Prepare 3 life plans you would like to complete, and mention what you are going to do to achieve them.

  1. In the main room, let’s discuss: 

Do we have 4 seasons in Costa Rica: spring, summer, fall, winter? 

Would you like to have them?

Do we have festivals in our country? 


  1. Now, let’s practice our reading skills! Please, complete exercise D, goal D, unit 11, pages 63 and 64. 

  2. Let’s practice the new vocabulary from the reading by clicking HERE

Objective: describe vacation.

  1. Please go to Unit 12, goal C, page 73, and complete exercise A. 

  2. Then, choose 3 phrases to create Simple Past sentences. Add their corresponding question. 

For example: 

Take a bus

I took the bus to arrive at the Centro Cultural Costarricense. 

Did you take the bus? 




Task 14: Let’s practice! 

  1. Please, click HERE, so you can access an extra activity where you can practice the -ed sound. 

  2. Then, please click HERE and answer the questions after the listening. 

  3. Finally, let’s practice the simple past in a conversation with our partner. Answer the questions: 

What did you do on the last National Holiday?


Example: 

What did you do for Christmas? 

First, I prepared dinner for my family. Secondly, we ate chicken. Next, we opened the presents. Later, we sang and danced to our favorite songs. And finally, we had a cup of hot chocolate and we went to sleep. 




Task 15:

  2. Let’s read the next sentences and let’s change them to questions, in simple past. 


I ate salad and chicken. 


We danced the whole night. It was funny!


They were at home because of my birthday. 


He drove his car to arrive at Centro Cultural Costarricense. 


She had to study before the test. 





Task 16: Let’s do a quick review about Simple Past

  1. Finally, let’s pretend we are going to talk with our counselor. We are going to mention what we did in the past, what we wish to improve, and what we are going to do to achieve it. 

Example: 

I did not study the -ed endings, and I got a bad grade in my oral test. 

I would like to get a better grade in my final test. 

I am going to review the theory, watch videos and practice my speaking.
